Meet Our Staff

Christine M. Sandoval, B.A.
Chris Sandoval serves as an Administrative Assistant with Bluestein Surgical Arts, PC. She is a Colorado native and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Southern Colorado. Prior to working for Bluestein Surgical Arts, Chris managed an Internal Medicine office for over 10 years. Chris focuses on patient assistance, with the understanding that a positive experience with front office staff is critical to World-Class Patient Care and overall patient satisfaction. Chris’ years of experience, attention to detail, and strong sense of integrity coupled with her dedication to patients is a tremendous asset to Bluestein Surgical Arts and our patients. Chris lives in Broomfield with her husband of many years and their son.

Justin Burtz, MPAS, PA-C
Justin is Dr. Bluestein's Physician Assistant. He is a native of Winner, South Dakota and has demonstrated a pattern of excellence throughout his life. Justin's accomplishments began as a young man when he graduated from high school with Highest Honors and was a Regents Scholar, as well as becoming an Eagle Scout at the same time. He attended South Dakota State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training, was on the Dean's List every semester for four years, was elected a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and was the recipient of the Richard Miller Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship. During college Justin also became an Emergency Medical Technician and worked on an ambulance providing on-call emergency care. Justin subsequently attended the University of South Dakota where he earned a certificate of Physician Assistant Studies and received special Recognition in Surgery on the NCCPA exam, scoring in the 96 th percentile nationally. Justin has practiced as a Certified Physician Assistant for six years in the field of General Surgery. He has extensive experience in caring for patients undergoing a variety of medical procedures, including surgery of the head and neck, and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. In keeping with his passion for continuing education, Justin earned his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) in 2004. Justin loves practicing medicine as a physician assistant. He is a genuine advocate for patient care and education, and is committed to continued professional growth. In his free time, Justin enjoys sports and outdoor activities.

Sierra R. Overlie, B.S.
Sierra has been with Bluestein Surgical Arts, PC since it’s inception in April, 2001. She is a native of Boulder, Colorado and a graduate of Boulder High School. Sierra earned her Bachelor’s of Science from the prestigious University of California, San Diego where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a major in Physiology and Neuroscience and a minor in Psychology. She has experience in all aspects of patient care and office operations, and also possesses exceptional knowledge and expertise in medical skincare. Sierra helped define Bluestein Surgical Art’s mission of World Class Patient Care in a Safe, Comfortable, and Caring Environment, and never settles for anything but the best.

Richard B. Cohen, B.F.A.
Richard is Bluestein Surgical Arts’ Director of Public Communications. Richard grew-up in Peoria, Illinois and is a graduate of Bradley University. He worked in advertising in Chicago for over thirty-five years as an Art Director and Creative Director. He directed photo shoots and advertising campaigns for major corporations such as Schwinn Bicycles, CNA insurance, Pritikin Health and Wellness Centers, and many others. Richard loves people and brings years of Customer Service experience to Bluestein Surgical Arts, PC.   Additionally, Richard invented, patented, and produced the “MedValet” (www.med-valet.com), a system used for maintaining patient’s medical information and medications in one, portable place. His system was created to decrease the incidence of medical errors and Richard recently went to Florida to receive the “Caregiver Award” from Caregiver Magazine for his significant contribution to Patient Safety. Bluestein Surgical Arts has incorporated Richard’s invention the “MedValet” to further elevate the high quality of our care. Richard moved to Colorado with his wife to be near family. He has four children and four grandchildren. He enjoys family, nature, gardening, and baseball.

Bonnie L. White
Bonnie has been with Bluestein Surgical Arts, PC for over two years. She is a Surgical Assistant with over 11 years of major, operating room surgical experience. She has the highest standards and takes tremendous pride in surgery well-performed. Bonnie is originally from Buffalo, New York and began her Surgical Assistant career in the Air Force. She moved to Boulder with her now husband, Daniel White, MD who is a cardiologist with Rocky Mountain Cardiology. Bonnie lives in Boulder with her husband and son.
