Dental Implants in Boulder, Colorado

Dental Implants have become the standard of care to replace missing teeth and preserve the jaw/facial bones. They are by far the best method to replace a missing tooth or teeth for the vast majority of patients. This is because dental implants solve problems that traditional methods of tooth replacement (bridges, partials, and dentures) are unable to address. Dental implants are truly changing people's lives.

Each natural tooth is made up of one crown and between one and three roots. The portion of your natural tooth that you see when you look in your mouth is called the "crown."   The root(s) is attached to the crown but is not normally visible because it sits within the lower or upper jaw bone which is under the gum tissue.

When you lose a tooth, the crown and root structure of that tooth no longer exist. This means that the body lacks its method used to stimulate and preserve the jaw / facial bones in that area. Immediately upon removal or loss of the tooth you begin to lose bone from your face / jaws. This bone loss is progressive and increases over time, and has significant consequences. Not only does the appearance of the face change (giving the "old person" look), but the basis of support for your remaining teeth, bridges, dentures, partials, and dental implants progressivly decreases over time. While this bone can be replaced using the latest bone grafting techniques, it is much easier to preserve bone than to replace it.

Dental implants preserve the jaw / facial bones.   They are titanium posts which replace a tooth's root structure, thereby allowing the favorable transfer of forces to the bones.   By doing so, dental implants not only replace the tooth or teeth that are missing and provide for normal chewing, but also allow for dentures and partials to fit more securely long-term.   Equally important, they also help preserve the bones and normal appearance of one's face over time.

Dr. Bluestein is an expert in the placement of Dental Implants.   She trained with some of the foremost implant authorities in the world, has extensive experience, and has been placing implants for over 10 years.   Additionally, Dr. Bluestein has a special interest in dental implants and stays abreast of all of the latest technologies, methods, and adjunctive procedures. Dr. Bluestein is also the founder of the "Rocky Mountain Institue for Implant Education."   As such, Dr. Bluestein plans, organizes, and coordinates educational programs for restorative doctors, surgeons, dental laboratory specialist, and implant manufacturers.

There are many variables involved with implant dentistry.   Among these are timing of the implant placement, bone grafting considerations, types of interim teeth, and anesthetic options.   Additional considerations include options for tooth replacement (single tooth vs. implant supported bridges vs. dentures vs. partials), length of time between placement of the implant(s) and receiving the "final teeth," and cost.

Schedule an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Bluestein and she will perform a detailed review of your medical and dental information, your preferences, and your financial considerations. She will then discuss treatment options that may work for you, as well as the advantages, disadvantages, and costs of each option.     Dental Implants in Boulder, Colorado by Bluestein Surgical Arts
